We laugh at others for amusement, while they struggle to catch a breath. Anxiety flood’s their bodies as they stand bravely, smiling and acting as if they did not notice. They put on a brave face, one of acceptance and resilience. The whisperers and passing glances infiltrate the mind while their heart skips a beat while fluttering so quickly it hurts. The pain is invisible and avoidable. The battle is internal with darts penetrating more than just our mere flesh. We are responsible for our actions and how we treat one another. People aren’t fair game nor is their livelihood. We can’t just take thing’s that don’t belong to us, including someone’s dignity and self worth. In this selfish world – we have to be better.
Find a reason to act in kindness. Learn empathy, seek love and understand how to give it. Instead of going with the crowd, go against it. Be thoughtful and considerate of others when everyone else walks by. Every day we get to choose what kind of people we are and who we want to become. Remember it is no harder nor easier than ever before, it is and has always been – a choice. A choice to live by our values than the lack of and the option to change them for the better. Good and bad, our choices do define us. Although it is inevitable for mistakes, we have the power to change and make better choices. Selfishness or selflessness. To be a better human we have to care enough to change.
Life is fleeting, but within it are millions of incremental moments that forge our eternity. We think the world is for our taking, including people. They are not, it is not. It is time to think about the choices we live by and how those moment’s define not just our existence, but the one in which we share.
